Rex Villasin’s 20-20 game propel Manila past Olongapo Pure Playaz and spoil Dmark De Leon triple-double performance

SINGAPORE – Manila had a sluggish start but made a torrid third quarter run to pull away from Olongapo, 87-75, in the Gilas Basketball 2017 Inter-Town Tournament at West Spring Secondary School sponsored by GB Sports LLP and Sneakers Club.

Manila started the third period with a 10-3 run and extend their lead to 10 points, 58-48.

In the final quarter Olongapo Pure Playaz tried to make the game close but Manila always had an answer to their runs and they sealed this game to victory.

Rex Villasin had a dominant performance scoring 21 points, grabbed a huge 25 rebounds and registered 2 steals for Manila.

Jun Ravalo wound up with a team-high 22 points on 10 of 18 shooting, pulled down 4 boards and issued 2 assists while fellow starter Paul Bryan Yun flirted with triple-double of 14 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds for Manila, who won their first game in 3 outings and improved to 1-2 in win-loss card.

Manila won the battle of the boards, 58-47. They also outscored Olongapo Pure Playaz in second chance points, 27-16.

Dmark De Leon led Olongapo Pure Playaz with a triple-double of 23 points, 17 rebounds, 10 blocks and 5 assists.

Allen Reyes had a game-high 27 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists while Michael Pimentel posted a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds for Olongapo Pure Playaz, who absorbed their third straight loss and fall to 0-3 win-loss card.
