SINGAPORE – Penta-Ocean rode a huge second quarter to an 57-46 victory over ASM in Gilas Basketball 2017 Inter-Company Cup at Yusof Ishak Secondary School sponsored by Lutong Pinoy.
Rikkon Figueroa led Penta-Ocean in the second period as they made a 15-2 run and end the quarter with a 13-point lead. They also held ASM to 7 points while scoring a huge 21 points in the second.
Figueroa finished with a game-high 25 points on 6 of 14 shooting including 3 of 6 from beyond the arc, grabbed 7 rebounds, dished out 4 assists and registered 2 steals.
Romy Mañalac came up with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals while fellow starter Michael Jordan chipped-in 12 markers, 2 boards and 2 assists for Penta-Ocean, who won their third straight games and improved to 5-1 in win-loss card.
ASM were limited to 32 percent shooting. Penta-Ocean’s defense forced them to shot more from beyond the arc that resulted to a 3 of 12 (25%) shooting.
Rodel Rosario led ASM with 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting and pulled down 5 boards in 29 minutes of action.
Jeffrey Ballesteros added 7 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists while Atamasha Chandra and Lourence Baguilat both scored 6 points apiece for ASM, who lose their fourth game in 7 outings and dropped to 3-4 in win-loss card.
