John Carpio star as Cebuanos down Overtime to make it back-to-back wins after three straight losses

SINGAPORE – Cebuanos made it back-to-back wins after three straight losses, downing the lowly Overtime, 65-56, in Gilas Basketball 2017 Republika Cup at West Spring Secondary School.

Cebuanos played tough in the middle quarters, then limited Overtime to just 14 points in the fourth period.

John Carpio led Cebuanos with 18 points on 8 of 12 shooting and pulled down 8 boards.

Val Amia added 14 points and 6 rebounds in 32 minutes of action, while fellow starter Hadjer Dullah had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists for Cebuanos, who won their second straight game and finished the positioning round with 2-3 win-loss record.

Cebuanos starters outscored Overtime starters, 53-15. They also imposed their will inside the shaded area, scoring 44 points inside the paint compared to 38 points by Overtime.

Joel Quimbo led Overtime with 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

Coming off the Mark Christain Roma finished the game with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists while Roger Babayson chipped-in 7 markers, 3 boards and 2 assists for Overtime, who suffered their fifth straight loss and finished the positioning round with 0-5 win-loss record.
