SINGAPORE – Shimz Dragon used a strong start to take charge and cruise to victory over undermanned Sunray, 83-57, in Gilas Basketball 2017 Inter-Company Cup at Yusof Ishak Secondary School sponsored by Lutong Pinoy.
Jerry Mauricio showed the way for Shimz Dragon, who overpowered Sunray, 24-8 in the first quarter. They continue their hot shooting in the second quarter and finished the quarter with an 18 point lead.
Mauricio led Shimz Dragon with a team-high 18 points on 7 of 16 shooting including 3 of 6 from beyond the arc, grabbed 2 boards and dished out 4 assists.
Richard Pangilinan had 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists while Raymond Lagman came off the bench to deliver 15 markers and 3 boards for Shimz Dragon, who won their fourth straight game and improved to 6-1 in win-loss card.
Shimz Dragon dominated the inside game as they scored 52 points inside the paint while Sunray was held to 38 points. Their reserves also shine in this game and took advantage on the lack of players from Sunray, outscoring their counterpart, 33-14.
Wen Yao led Sunray with a game-high 21 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals
Ryan Soriano came up with 16 points and 4 boards while Noel Espinola added 13 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals for Sunray, who suffered their third straight lost and dropped to 2-5 in win-loss card
