Exequiel Bernabe shines as Patriots deal Mogas a 36-point beatdown to extend their winning streak to five

SINGAPORE – Patriots took control early and cruised to a 78-42 victory over Mogas in Gilas Basketball 2017 Republika Cup at Yusof Ishak Secondary School.

Exequiel Bernabe led the way for the Patriots, who held Mogas scoreless in five minutes in the second to build a 13-point lead.

Bernabe scored 19 points on 7 of 8 shooting, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 2 assists.

Marcelo Maon came up with 12 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists while Denmark Magmanlac and Ken Pimentel both scored 6 points apiece for Patriots, who ended their Positioning Round campaign in a perfect 5-0 record.

Patriots imposed their might inside the shaded area as they outscored Mogas in points inside the paint, 56-12. Their defense also forced Mogas to shoot poorly from the field registering 29 percent while Patriots had an efficient shooting of 67 percent from the field.

Jeff Venson Vencilao led Mogas with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists.

Coming off the bench Richard Mendoza deliver 9 points and 3 rebounds while Mervin Tabasan added 8 markers in 26 minutes of action for Mogas, who absorbed their fourth straight loss and dropped to 0-4 in win-loss card.

The Lutong Pinoy Game MVP is Exequiel Bernabe.
