Aljun Express rally from 21 points down to beat Admirals in overtime behind Gergel Lujero double-double performance

SINGAPORE – Aljun Express pulled off a come-from-behind 90-83 overtime win over Admirals in Gilas Basketball 2017 SBP Cup at West Spring Secondary School sponsored by GB Sports LLP and Sneakers Club.

Aljun express was trailing by 11 points at the end of the first half.

Gergel Lujero led the way for Aljun Express in the third period as they trimmed down the lead to 6 points entering the final frame.

With 16 seconds left in the ball game, Admirals is leading by 5-points. John Malangen made a huge defensive stop as he steal the ball to Rodel Lumagui and made a lay-up to bring down the lead to three-points.

Admirals had a chance to seal the ball game but Jay Ar Manango missed both crucial free-throws that resulted to Oliver Camacho tying basket and sending this game to overtime.

In overtime period Aljun Express overpowered admirals, 13-6 and cruise to victory.

Lujero exploded for 30 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists.

Von Fer Santigao added 21 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals while fellow starter John Malangen had 17 points, 7 boards and 4 steals for Aljun Express, who won their third game in 5 outings and finished the positioning round with 3-2 win-loss record.

Aljun Express almost doubled the output of Admirals in points inside the paint, 70-36.

Jay Ar Manango led Admirals with a team-high 20 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists.

John Ryan Jagdon came up with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists while Crisanto Lumabi chipped-in 18 points and 7 boards for admirals, who absorbed their fourth loss and fall to 1-4 in win-loss card.
